The Frackville Area Historical Society had their regularly scheduled meeting July 31. We meet the last Thursday of the month. A Show and Tell was held by the members. Some interesting items were displayed.

The public is welcome to all meetings. Please think about coming to a meeting and we would be delighted to see any Frackville items you might have.

Hi Doug,

i am delighted to hear from you. Yes your house is a Frackville historic home. The previous owner was a member and we had and historic house event several years ago she applied. We gave her a plaque designated that it is a historic house. Apparenty her family did not give it to you. I still have one that i can give you to put on the house.

The house is on the 1875 map of Frackville and is shows it was owner by John B. and Louisa Nice. John nice was a prominent person in the town, but I will have to do a little diging to refresh my memory about him. Louisa was the daughter of Samuel Houpt one of the co-founders of Frackville.

From the outside it does not look like there were many changes made to the house although I see you have done some nice landscaping.

I would be glad to talk to you more about the house. I am in the phone book or you can reply at the above e-mail address. We would like to have you come to a meeting of our historical society. we meet the last Thursday of the month.
